Those wishing to escape from the city life and enjoy the silence of the countryside can find it within arm’s reach from the capital. Zsámbék Ruin Church
The key element of the village landscape is the Ruin Church, built in the first half of the 13th century by the Premontre monastic order. The Pálos monks received the property as a donation by King Mathias in 1475. The former Zichy castle is situated in Zichy square, which housed the Catholic Teacher Training College for several decades. The construction of the castle started in 1100, and by the Turkish occupation era it had become one of the most important castles by the border in the county. The historic park of the village, with its special atmosphere, the so called Convent Garden, used to be a part of the castle.
