The decoration is overwhelming, you can see towers, bastions, arches, hundreds of statues, paintings, mosaics and fountains here. The unique castle is also listed in the Guinness Book of Records to be the largest building in the world built by a single man.

Lake Velence
Lake Velencei is the second largest natural lake and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hungary. Its area is 27 sqm, one-third of which is covered by reeds. The region boasts the largest number of sunshine hours in Hungary. Owing to the 1.5 m average water depth and a large number of sunshine hours, the water temperature reaches 26-28 C in summer. The protected reeds and moors of the lake are home to one of the largest and most colourful waterbird populations in Hungary.
Giant statue of Hussar Miska
The 13-meter high giant statue weighing 100 tons represents a hussar who served the famous Hungarian light cavalry in the 19th century. The monumental statue is standing next to the M7 highway, in Pákozd, on the so-called Beetle hillock where it was said that Jellasic the Croat Imperial-Royal field marshall had stood in the battle of Pakozd in September 1848.
Bence Hill lookout tower
The 20-meter high lookout tower offers a breathtaking 360-degree view over lake Velencei and surrounding mountains. The hill was named after István Bencze, the first successful grape grower in the area. There used to be another lookout tower, a transformed oil drilling rig which was demolished in 1988 after an accident when a tourist fell off. The new lookout tower made of stone and coloured concrete was opened in March 2018. It has an organic design resembling a wind-blown tree, a cup-shaped flower or perhaps a snake's head. The "Concrete Flower" as the designers called it catches the eye from all around the hill and shows a different shape in every direction. The observation deck at the top of the 20-meter high tower is accessible by 118 stairs. Open every day from 10.00-18.00. Admission 500 HUF /1,50 EUR
Velence Korzo Beach
The most popular sandy beach on the lake is located in front of the recently built Velence Korzo shopping mall. There are dozen small restaurants where you can try the local’s favourite beach meals like fried hake fish, sausage, langos (fried bread) and palacsinta (waffle). Sunbeds and umbrellas are also available for rent. Free admission
